Funeral Services for Mrs. Patricia Noel Mathis of Maryland formerly of
Edwardsville, Virginia were held Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Galilee
United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, Virginia with Reverend Charles
Bates, Officiating.
Patricia Noel Mathis, lovingly known as “Pat” by family and friends,
was
born on July 30, 1961 in Richmond, Virginia to Elsie M. Noel and
Columbus R.
Kenner.
At an early age, Pat was baptized at Galilee United Methodist
Church in
Edwardsville, Virginia. She received her education in the
Northumberland
County Public Schools.
She was employed at Tacoma Park Middle School in Maryland until
her
illness.
On June 22, 2002, she was united in holy matrimony to Melvin
Mathis.
Pat was a devoted wife and mother. She cherished the time spent with
her
family. Her quiet and giving spirit played an important role in her
life.
On Wednesday morning, August 23, 2006, Patricia “Pat” Mathis
departed
this earthly life at Holy Cross Hospital in Wheaton, Maryland. She was
preceded in death by her special grandmother, Mary Kenner Conaway.
She leaves to cherish, a loving husband, Melvin Mathis; two
daughters,
Alisha Noel and Makon Noel, a stepdaughter, Shakita Mathis; her mother,
Elsie Noel and father, Roosevelt Kenner; mother-in-law, Brenda Hymes;
three
sisters: Judy Sanders (Bug), Kim Noel (Maurice) and Sharla Noel; a
brother,
Noland Noel; two sisters-in-law: Ronnie Washington and Dionne Goodall;
a
brother-in-law, Dewayne Mathis; seven aunts: Mavis Dates, Elaine Noel,
Minister Shirley Harcum, Rose Noel, Edith Elmore, Daisy Abdelaziz,
(Israel)
and Blossie (William) Pitts; six uncles: Robert Noel(Celitia), Donald
Harcum, Ellis Elmore, Freddie Kenner (Shirley), Harrison Kenner
(Dorothy)
and Isaac Kenner (Julia); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends.
Interment services were held at the church cemetery where family and
friends
served as both pall bearers and floral bearers.
