Life Reflections

Funeral Services for Ms. Theresa Hardin Marsh of Lancaster were held Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 1 P. M. at the Willie Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Rose M. Curry, Officiating.

Theresa Jones Hardin-Marsh was born December 1, 1951óthe last of 13 children to Anita Ruth Jones and the late Welford Jones, Sr., of Merry Point, Virginia.

She was educated in the Lancaster County school system and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1971. An avid reader and advocate of education, she began her post-secondary education at Strayer University in Washington, DC, and later received her Associates Degree in Information Systems at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College. Prior to getting ill in 1997, Theresa was working toward her Bachelors degree.

Theresaís love of knowledge extended into her religious education as well. Baptized at an early age, she remained a member of Willie Chapel Baptist Church and continued to study Godís Holy Word even while incapacitated.

Theresa had a great capacity for love and encouraged people to be their best. This is most apparent in the love she showed her three children. She taught them the value of family, hard work, and independence by being a living testimony to the lessons she instilled in them. She always placed their well-being as her number one priority, even above her own. In the last eleven years of her life, she continued to be a source of inspiration as she proved that we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us and that nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8: 37-39).

In the early morning hours of Monday, August 3, 2009, one of Godís angels answered His call.

Theresa leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Anita Jones, of Merry Point; one daughter, Alicia Hardin-Carter (Kenneth) of Hayes, Virginia; two sons: Terry Hardin Sr. (Latarsha) of Kilmarnock, Virginia and Hosea B. Hardin III (Lorrie) of Newport News, Virginia; two sisters: Rachel Cooper of Merry Point, Virginia, and C. Deserie Curry (William) of Capital Heights, Maryland; four brothers: Welford Jones, Jr. (Mary) of Merry Point, Virginia; Ernest Jones (Tina) of Camp Springs, Maryland; Henry Jones (Rose) of Columbia, Maryland; and Marvin Jones of Baltimore, Maryland; ten grandchildren: Terry Hardin, Jr.; Tiera Hardin; Kenadie Carter; Kyran Gaskins; Terren Hardin; Hosea Hardin IV; Kenneth Carter, Jr.; Laron Hardin; Jamari Hardin; and Kaden Hardin; a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

Interment services were held at the church cemetery where family and friends served as both floral and pall bearers.

Services of Comfort and Trust entrusted to the Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home, Berry O. Waddy, Manager.
